Founded in 1980, TECOM began with strategic investments into other joint ventures with the objective to strengthen and broaden product coverage in telecommunication markets. Since then, TECOM has formed a diverse telecommunications group.
The group consists of several telecommunication related companies:

 1999: TAIWAN FIXED NETWORK CO., LTD., a     licensed fixed network service provider in     Taiwan.

1998: TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL     CORPORATION:is to evoke national     transportation development and to enter a new     era of providing transportation service.

1997:MOBITAI COMMUNICATIONS CO., LTD.,     a licensed GSM 900 MHz cellular service
    provider in Taiwan.KG TELECOM, a licensed
    DCS 1.8 GHz cellular service provider in Taiwan

1991:BAYCOM, specializing in advanced Fiber-
    Cable manufacturing, is a new start-up in optical
    communication.

1990:COMTREND CORPORATION, specializing
    in digital loop carrier and DSU/CSU     transmission equipment.

1987:TECOM invested in Ericsson Taiwan, one     of the three major cellular phone providers
